    @bordway Its an ESI ionization source, so they use high voltage to charge (by tunneling) the molecules. In Esi the sample is always dissolved in liquid (50% organic solvent, 50% water so as to stabilize the charge formed).

    This is a Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometer. The sample is actually being ionized utilizing electrospray ionization, so not a solid sample. FFT means fast fourier transform. QB/m is how one goes from a frequency spectrum to a m/z spectrum. and there is no sounds with this.

    this is wierd to see the 2kV applied to the nebulizer…must be a solid sample?? I’ve only seen that charge (2kV) applied within a continous dynode where the ions would have enough kinetic energy after passing threw the quadrupol to multiply electrons as it hits the dynode… could u explain the sample entry for me?
