Mass spectrometry animation of SRM : – ions of 3 different masses (ie colors) start in the first quadrupole ; – one ion of a selected mass (ie blue color) is filtered in Q1 ; – then fragmented in q2 into 3 different fragments (with different masses, ie shapes) ; – one of these fragments is filtered in Q3. – this selected fragment hits the detector after Q3 and produces a signal (ie flash).
